La Tierra del Fuego: A small Sunday fashion market

La Tierra del Fuego

Once a month on a sunday La Tierra del Fuego opens its doors to a handful of merchants and artists to present their products in their rooms. I went there by recommendation of La Modethêque, a shop in Triball. From 11 am to 7 pm you have the chance to find an alternative way of shopping. It is like a flea market in miniature form but many of the people selling there have their shops somewhere in Madrid. Instead of going to one shop at a time, you can find 9 or 10 of them in one place.

The offer goes from handbags, hats, shoes to vintage clothes, fans, kitchen clothes and jewelery. I got myself some interesting earings directly from the designer Carmen Salgado. They are only available in La Tierra del Fuego once a month, she doesn’t has a shop or webpage yet and sells them directly.

Another great thing about this market is that you can get to know new shops without walking around the city for hours. Some of the shops represented in La Tierra del Fuego were:

Sol García Sánchez

El Baúl de Noe

One of the great discoveries I made this 1st of April at La Tierra del Fuego, is the shop Abrete Sesamo on C/Noviciado 9. It is a second hand shop which organizes intercambios for clothes. Can’t wait to try this out in between I will visit their homepage.
